Paspaley unveils a new milestone in Australian retail – its first South Australian boutique, in Adelaide’s fashion centre
Australian luxury jewellery company Paspaley has unveiled a new boutique in Adelaide, at the city’s Burnside Village retail centre. As the world’s leading pearl retailer, Paspaley is delighted to be able to offer the world’s rarest and most valuable pearls to the South Australian market for the first time.
The boutique is situated in the exclusive new luxury wing of Burnside Village, home to Australia’s leading fashion and beauty retailers. The 250m² store continues a 15-year relationship between Paspaley, the renowned architect Eric Carlson and his Paris-based studio, Carbondale. They have previously collaborated on Paspaley’s Sydney Castlereagh Street, Brisbane, Collins Street and Crown Melbourne boutiques.
Like a precious jewel, the retail design is multifaceted and bears the highest standards of craftsmanship and materials. Every touchpoint and design gesture was inspired by the luminous beauty of Australian South Sea pearls, Paspaley’s history as Master Pearlers and the natural world of the Kimberley region, where the Paspaley story begins.
Group Executive Director James Paspaley said: “With deep reverence for a legacy that spans over 90 years, Paspaley is honoured to unveil its first boutique in Adelaide – a new chapter in our enduring story of pearling adventure. This space is intended to be more than a boutique; it is a sanctuary of beauty and craftsmanship, conceived to reflect the soul of Australia’s North West, where our journey began and continues.
Every detail within has been thoughtfully curated to echo the majesty of the Kimberley: the contours of its ancient landscapes, the shimmering hues of the Indian Ocean’s turquoise waters and the iridescent glow of mother-of-pearl. Each element is a quiet homage to the world from which our pearls are born.
We invite our clients not merely to shop, but to step into a world shaped by nature, heritage and artistry – a world where the spirit of the sea meets the elegance of design, and where every pearl tells a story of origin, rarity and timeless beauty.”
From the moment you approach the boutique, you are drawn to two enormous window displays, which are set into a facade crafted from luminous white marble. Vertical rows of sculpted concave circles allude to Paspaley’s signature strands.
Inside, the open, radiant space is awash with whites, creams and sandstone, with accents of oceanic blue. Natural materials feature throughout, from blue marble flooring that flows like the ocean floor to walls composed of white-onyx tableaux, and striated travertine counters and supporting plinths, which reference the layered formations of the Kimberley region.
Central to the boutique is Strands Cove, which celebrates Paspaley’s signature pearl strands and high-jewellery creations. This luminous space features walls wrapped in shimmering marquetry with pearlescent lacquer and circle motifs that have been crafted with mother-of-pearl carved from Pinctada maxima pearl oyster shells.
Different Paspaley collections are subtly delineated by bespoke carpet “islands”, which have been hand-tufted to evoke the ripples of a windswept Australian beach. A Digital Portrait Wall brings a futuristic element to the stories of the Paspaley family, its heritage as Master Pearlers of 90 years and the inspiration behind its jewelled creations.
A discreet and luxurious VIP Lounge offers a more intimate retail experience, and this boutique will also house the first Paspaley Bridal space.
This breathtaking new boutique is more than a retail space – it is an immersive environment that invites discovery, celebrates the heritage and future of Paspaley, and is a living jewellery box for the world’s rarest and most valuable pearls.
