Next Chapter Begins: Burnside Village Launches Major Expansion

This significant investment by the Cohen Group represents the largest private sector retail property expansion currently underway in South Australia, underscoring the Cohen family’s confidence in the state’s economic future.

The Stage 6 expansion has already generated more than 1,625 jobs, including 525 positions during the construction phase and an anticipated 1,100 ongoing operational roles. This expansion is projected to significantly increase pedestrian traffic to Burnside Village, expected to surpass 7 million in the coming years.

The initial phase of the Stage 6 development doubles Burnside Village’s footprint to 38,500 square metres and welcomes more than 80 new retailers to the centre. Complemented by an additional 560 free undercover car parks across two basement levels, complete with provision for E-vehicle charging facilities. Shoppers will also enjoy a brand-new, elevated shopping environment featuring dedicated precincts for home and lifestyle, electrical offerings, alongside a vibrant village dining precinct, health and wellness, and enhanced amenities. With a focus on accessibility will see the centre providing a total of 9 lifts, 4 travelators, and 3 escalators. The development also incorporates a substantial 365kW solar system with the potential for future expansion.

Reinforcing its tagline as ‘Where Fashion Lives’ in Adelaide, Burnside Village will welcome a curated selection of both international and Australian fashion designers, solidifying Burnside Village’s reputation as the pre-eminent retail destination and leading shopping centre in South Australia and beyond.

The initial phase of the Stage 6 development will introduce a diverse and exciting collection of new and returning retailers to the Burnside Village precinct, promising an elevated shopping and lifestyle experience for the community and beyond. This launch is the first glimpse of the evolution of Burnside Village, with further highly anticipated retail and dining additions scheduled to be unveiled between June and September 2025.
