ZARA’s Flagship Store at Burnside Village has Officially Reopened

ZARA’s flagship store at Burnside Village has officially reopened its doors today. Set in a prime location, the store totals nearly 2,000 square metres, spanning two floors. This store was originally launched in 2011 as the third store in Australia.

The new store features the latest technological innovations from Zara’s integrated online and physical store platform. It reflects Inditex and Zara’s current strategy of opening stores equipped with the most efficient technological tools so that customers can live the fashion experience in a spacious, innovative and more sustainable environment. The quality of space is a vital part of the concept.

The interior is predominantly white, clean and neutral with hints of colour and warmth from the wooden furniture and the natural tones of the textiles. The space integrates the Women’s, Men’s and Kid’s collections across two floors. These floors are connected through escalators and a lift.

The store features Zara’s latest retail concept for larger stores. It is equipped with the most efficient technological tools to offer customers a unique fashion experience integrated with the online platform. Some of the services integrated with the brand’s app include a fitting room reservation service, the ability to search online for items in the store, order and collect them within two hours and to check available stock. The store also boasts of an assisted checkout area.

Zara Burnside Village operates some of the most advanced energy efficiency systems, a testament to Zara’s full commitment to sustainability. The measures adopted in this new store reflect this commitment and include high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, LED lighting for greater energy savings and the use of materials with less environmental impact.

The store is also connected to our Inergy internal platform that centrally monitors the consumption of air conditioning and electrical equipment to optimise management, identify the most efficient systems, improve maintenance, and define strategies to reduce energy demand.

Zara works continuously to reduce the environmental impact of its teams’ daily decision-making through a roadmap and milestones for the whole value chain. It also develops reuse and recycling programmes to promote the circular economy and to reduce waste and the first-time consumption of raw materials.

Zara is part of the Inditex Group, a global fashion company, together with Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho and Zara Home. With a business model focused on constant innovation and customer service, Inditex operates an integrated platform of physical and online stores in over 200 markets and is committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2040.

Burnside Village Stage 6 Development

Construction will start this week on the Stage Six expansion of Burnside Village following completion of site preparation works over the past few months.

The expansion will build on the Village’s reputation as a world-class shopping destination with three levels of retail including a new premium mall, a new dining experience, home and lifestyle, entertainment, and a health and wellbeing precinct.

It will add an additional 80 new stores and double the footprint of Burnside Village to 38,850 square metres. There will also be over 560 free undercover carparks and E-vehicle charging.

The Cohen Group’s multi-million investment is currently the largest private sector retail property expansion in South Australia and a sign of the Cohen family’s confidence in the South Australian economy.

Cohen Group Chief Executive Officer, Gregg Downer said the Stage Six expansion would continue the evolution of Burnside Village as a vibrant urban village by enhancing the retail experience for our shoppers and a new generation of customers.

“We’re excited to be bringing a new, unrivalled customer destination shopping experience to South Australia which aims to attract visitors from across metropolitan Adelaide, interstate and overseas,” said Mr Downer.

“The investment being made by the Cohen Group underscores the company’s commitment to South Australia and supporting the growth and development of the State.”

Construction of Stage Six is being undertaken by national construction firm Hansen Yuncken, supported by a network of local contractors and suppliers.

State Manager, Mark Rosenboom said we are very pleased to be partnering with the Cohen Group to deliver on the vision and design of the Burnside Village expansion.

“Local consultants Bestec and Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec and AECOM are providing support to the project, while national project management group, RCP will manage the process on behalf of Burnside Village,” said Mr Rosenboom.

The Buchan Group has been appointed to provide world-class architectural and interior design for Stage Six. The new design complements the existing mall aesthetics, and the crowning jewel of the Centre is its 2,000 sqm custom Lanik glass roof that provides an abundance of natural light and gives the centre a light and airy feel.

Leasing for Stage Six is being managed by Colliers.

“Burnside Village is visioned to attract and capture international and national brands and deliver a dynamic and fashion forward shopping experience” said Ben Laycock, Colliers National Director Retail Leasing.

The Stage Six expansion will create more than 1,625 jobs – 525 jobs through construction and a further 1,100 operational jobs.
